Understanding Car Heating and Cooling Problems

March 4th, 2022 by

When temperatures are chilly and you need your car’s heater to get to work, it can be extremely frustrating if it takes more than a minute to get toasty. And when the weather becomes boiling, a malfunctioning a/c is just plain awful.

These are the common reasons why the HVAC system in your vehicle may require Maserati service.

Mold or Mildew

Are you getting a bad smell when you turn the system on? If so, there’s a good chance that mold or mildew has built up in the heater core.

This can happen if a car goes long stretches without being used. Breathing this in is very dangerous, so it needs to be cleaned promptly.

Bad Thermostat

If your car is having trouble heating up, the likely culprit is the thermostat. Its job is to make sure that the engine is working at the right temperature. A bad thermostat will impede how fast a car warms up.

Refrigerant Leak

If you turn the a/c on and hot air comes out, this is probably related to the refrigerant. It could be you don’t have enough in the reservoir. If you need to keep adding more, and you’re still running into the same problem, then there’s almost certainly a leak somewhere.

Blocked or Broken Condenser

The condenser plays a vital role in keeping you cool. If something is blocking it or it has gone bad, your a/c won’t supply the cold air you need.
